So, got my self a freelander as a run around, only 800 quid and full spec, leather heated seats, light guards, side steps, roof rails, dog guard back tray etc. Now you can't get a car for that cash without a couple of hick ups! Come on here to get some answers, and there is not a single post without a load of sniggering poncy farm boy talk from everyone that doesn't wantto help, the most common get some petrol and a match! Well at least some of you can copy and paste!
Always been land rover ppl in my family, had new range rivers, disco's and defender's. Got a freelander when new out and what a pile of crap for the money! Mind you, P38 had many issues, defender TD5, Disco 300tdi alp had problems. I only needed a run around for 2 weeks, went to the auction, took the gamble and after driving it I'm keeping it for a while. It's under powered up hill, but bar that fine down the motorway, good handling, good fuel economy and quite comfy. I had defender's when I used to go properly off road, right until my mates had shoguns and I realised they were nearly as good off road, but so much better on road and not scrunched up like noddy. I'm not going to even suggest these things are off road capable, but for the money and having a bit of fun in play and pay days rather than trials or comp I'm sickingly impressed with the piece of crap! Managed to get it on a sideways angle further than any other 4x4. Yeah engines are crap, it's rover! But let's face it, a head gasket won't go for no reason on any vehicle, it has to be down to a crap cooling system. Just keep on top of that, and its a happy cheap motor that will go up slight bankings deal with snow, and let's face it, with the right driver could do a fair amount of green landing. A lift is easy, fairly pointless, but easy. It's not just gonna be a run around, I'm keeping it for a year and having some no care fun with it!
