My Freelander 1 XDi 2L (2000) requires a new cltch and I have some questions about the procedure. 1 Can the clutch be accessed with the engine in situ. 2. If not,is it possible to remove the engine without gearbox from above (with engine hoist) or does it have to be dropped/accessed from underneath. If the answer to question 1 is NO then am I wright to presume the subframe will require removal along with the IRD/ propshaft and gearbox etc after draining everything down (oils & water)

I will re-post, however children!! if you are to much lukin up your own arse then just relax! & don't bother to reply to it unless it's something sensible. Oh, and thank you for all your advice so far(lol)

Hi,Turboman, have yer slid down from yer lofty position, must be bloody cold up there!! Nobody to talk to eh!
No but he'll have his pig to snuggle up to!

Back to the original question. I haven't done a cltch (or indeed a clutch) in a Freelander L series but have seen a few videos on Youtube of guys doing them. Worth a look for some tips but I think it can be done with the engine in situ.

Alibro, thanks for that, if it can be done in-situ I think there is some issue of some two or three bolts that are extreemly hard to access without moving the IRD unit. Well I'm still seeking more detailed info as yet before tackling this job which I think will be difficult whichever way it is approached.
