Freelander 1.8 engine problem

Bit of an intermittent problem but when ticking over the revs slightly go up and down and I get a bit of engine shudder
i do get lambda sensor problem but then the engine management light goes out goes out

Check that all pipes/hoses into the inlet side of the motor are secure in their fittings - no extra air getting in to upset things.
