Try A-Plan - no affiliation - and IMHO get it on agreed value cos if the worst happens, a packet of midget gems or the equivalent "market value" isn't going to replace it any time soon .....

I have a classic car and now insured via Footman James, at £88, I’ve never known a classic insurance that will earn a no claim bonus as it’s expected that the vehicle will be a hobby and have a very low annual mileage.

If you can have a value for your disco that the insurance company will except, good luck, my classic car has an ‘agreed value’ of £10,000, a value that I picked out of the air and it that was acepted over the phone, so perhaps I’ve undervalued the vehicle I’ll try upping the value next year, I only paid £2800 for the car.

As for my Disco, Sun Life insure it at £118 but this year excess has increased to £200 for a normal full comp policy but then it’s now 22+ years old so no great value even though it has a low mileage.

I have my classic lexus ls400 v8 insured with them, and my classic vmax1200 insured with them. They told me they don't do discos anymore,i'll try Sun Life.

You don't mention if it's on agreed value or not - but I hope it is ....:) As, if it was written off .... what would it cost to replace with a similar one owner immaculate low mileage one ?

Somewhat more than the half a mars bar and some midget gems they'd likely offer:(

Why? Looks decent - it'd need checking thoroughly for rot in the usual places ... or bodged repairs -

Have you looked at ex Japan re-imports ?
No,not looked at jap imports.I might go and have a look at this one tomorrow,he said he'll take £2,700 cash.I've checked the mot history on digect gov.it's got an oil leak and general corrosion,i need to have a good look if i'm gonna buy it.

If you go and look - take lots of pictures and put them up on here for others to advise you.... I knew what I was buying when I bought my D1, and don't regret it at all. Unfortunately SWMBO's D1 came with a few bodged repairs - principally the sills, which had been repaired with four layers of biscuit tin for the inner sill, and oversills for the outers - it was a friggin mess of the highest order and took some sorting out to get rid of all the carp .....

It hasn’t been enthusiastically maintained with the five MOT failures which is a shame.
But if your enthusiastic in purchasing the vehicle you do have a list of what may need attention, not a great deal but may cost to replace the brake pipes and the A frame ball joint, the dust shroud on mine was disintegrating a few yers ago, so I sprayed black waxoil over the joint it’s your now totally covered and forgotten.
As I have always avoided mud with the disco and the chassis was rustproofing twice from new there’s no rust, even after a run on the winter salt covered road the underneath was washed asap on return but most times the company car was used instead.

The benefit of hind sight as they say, I saw my RR slowly rusting a way in the ten years of ownership, with no time to do anything about it as it was used seven days a week for or by family members, a real workhorse as LRs should be.

This one might be a better deal,https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2001-Lan...000MY-V8i-ES-6-seat-12-MONTH-MOT/192869955841

I insured my '98 D1 V8 in 2017 for £188 fully comp, no no claims discount, with Lancaster, to be found in any Land Rover magazine. They offered me a sum and I said "Ok thanks, now I'll ring the others to compare." They then practically halved it to make me not do that!
It MAY be the LPG that is causing the issue. If it is certificated then Saga should do it. But rest assured that one of the others in the mags will do it. Footman James I used for a long time for Kit Car insurance. They were cheaper and not so "up my asre" as Adrian Flux who ended up thinking they were God's gift to the insurance of specials, although they were good back in about 1988.

Decided against it,after studying the mot's i'm just not happy with it.The the seller has what looks like an mot station on sight,i susspect it still has some of the advisorys/ failures from the previouse mot's.I think when a dealer mot's a car to sell,i'm almost sure they can be a bit lax.I just dont trust it,i used to work in garages myself.Like you say,not a good deal.

It appears that the same issues were still there at every mot, :( iffy tyres..

Well done. If in doubt, go with your gut!
