fog lights

The wiring's there, it terminates in a white (or it was when it was built) clipped about 7-8" above the foglight. Get underneath and have a nose around on the driver's side - it's a bit less crowded - with a torch and you should spot it. If you get the original foglights they come with the plugs attached.

To fit them it's a lot easier to take the bumper off.

However, if they weren't fitted at the factory, the circuit won't be switched on in the BECM. The check light will come up on the foglight switch, the wiring will be there for that as well, but the fog lights won't come on.

just had a look there is the wirers on the back of the bummper but there is no switch in the car dose this mean that i cant fit the fogs or do they use the rear fog switch?

You have to fit the switch and get the lights enabled in the BECM. If it's a diesel auto, the fog lights should not be fitted as the nearside one blocks the airflow the auto box oil cooler.

Get yourself a switch from a breakers. It has to be a front fog light switch as all the dash switches have different plugs behind the dash. They're a bit of a hassle as they fit into the dash from behind so it's a dash off job.

So, to make it worth your while, you might want to think of anything else that you could do with the dash off. Duff bulbs in any other switches or in the HEVAC unit for example.

Quick question on this same subject, I fitted front fogs on my first p38 popped blacking plug out wire was just there,

Gone to do the same on my second p38 and no wire its an earlly one (1995) DSE but no electric seats or sunroof, is the wire def there if I pull the dash apart, as wont both if it mite not be.

Also had no need to take the dash apart before just popped switch blank out the front and also didnt need the becm enabling they worked from just plugging them in.

If your early car has a lowline becm you need to fit additional wiring. The fog lamp kit comes with two switches and an extra loom which you use if yours has a lowline becm if it's a highline becm you don't use the loom in the kit! That's why you have no plug in the dash yours must be a lowline becm!
