FL1 fuel consumption K 1.8

I have read that the K series 1.8 petrol motor is not great on the L/100km or MpG. I've read figures such as 13.5L/100km or 21 MpG.

I'm getting a reliable 9L/100km or about 31MpG and have had even better than that with a careful right foot - 7.4L/100km or 38MpG.

Mostly open road driving with some urban in there too.

Can I have an indication of what other K series 1.8 drivers are getting?

I seem to average around 33 mpg, but I have gotten around 38 with a gentle foot.
Mostly motorway miles mind.

Freelander (Land Rover Freelander) | Fuelly

My daily commute on both my 1.8 Freelanders averaged around 27 mpg. I wasn't particularly careful though. By comparison, my V6 did 19.8 mpg for the same journey.
