Hi all

Wonder if anyone can give me some help regarding the above. I have bought a new old stock soft wrap around nudge bar without all the fittings which isn't a major problem because I can make them but need to know how the wrap around arms mount to the wing, there are two holes in each of the wrap around sides which I assume would have to fix to the front wing but the question is how?

Any ideas?

TIA

Hi Hog88,
:welcome2:
Is this job turning into a bit of a pig... :D

Seriously, is this the wrap around nudge bar you mean?

I dont think there is mutch substantial to connect the nudge to on the sides of the wings, if so I suspect there was an extra bracket made up that went from the inside of the wing to the chassis. With the piccie maybe a few more will comment.

Cheers,

Hi All

I know nothing about nudge bars so from an objective view if you secure these bars to the skin of the wing the slightest nudge will just rip and crease the wing?
Would it not be best to have some slight give and let the bumper and further support from the front take the strain?
Just throwing my 2d worth in:)

I would have thought you just remove the bolts that secure the front bumper and then align the Nudge bar and drop bolts back through and torque them up.

Most that I have seen just sit on top of the bumper. They have an L bracket with two holes which line up with the bumper bolts.

Yep bumper mounting is not a problem, its the wrap around side bits over the headlights that I am not sure about, where they wrap around the front wing there is a moulded hole top and bottom which looks as it should have a bolt fixing it to someting and the only thing appears to be directly to the wing.

Clear as mud I know!

They don't fix to the wing - if there are holes then there are for mounting something else, the wing is not structural and would be damaged if you did nudge something.

Thanks for all your help guys. Will be fitting this weekend so will let you know if I hit a snag.

Well fitted nudge bar to bumper no problem but wrap around sides flap around like a bats wings and knock against the front wing so concluded they do need to be fixed to the wing. Bit the bullet, drilled holes and fixed with rubber washers, now steady as a rock and looks great. Photo to follow.

That sounds crazy, the first time you bump something you will bend the wings.

What about mounting a rubber grommet that will hold the wrap arounds away from the wings without being directly connected, so they won't flap, but when bumped they have some give and won't bend the wings..

Sorry for picking up on an old post but just bought a soft wrap around nudge bar from ebay without the fixings.

I can see that to fit the main section I will need to take off the front bumper and drill holes, but could you please let me know which bolts fit best and also what size bolts you used to attach the side light sections?

If I drill the front wing to attach the side sections (I note reservations about doing this so I'll see how much they move first) how do you get to the bolt side under the wing as there seems to be little space to get your hand in?

Thanks for any help :scratching_chin:

If it's the same model as the OP's - VUB501770

Then, here are the installation instructions -

If it's a different model, you can download them from LR's TOPIx website, here -

Hi, I've got a Defender with one of these bars fitted. It's got two bolts at each side which are fixed through the front wing (unfortunately). it was originally fitted by a L-R main dealer. The side pieces are so flexible that I doubt an impact would harm the wing, though given the choice I'd prefer not to have it. On the good side, it is heavily promoted as a pedestrian safety measure as an impact absorber
