Fitting rear seats in 06 Freelander Commercial

Hello.
Has any one fitted rear seats in their Freelander / Commercial?? If so did you have any problems attaching the seats to the floor, any tips/advice would be much appreciated.

the bolt holes are all there under the plywood lining, you will need the bars bolted on to the floor, that the seat latches on to. If you don't have these seat doesn't upight.


even the seat belts fit, slight pilot hole needed for actual backing plate on each seat belt assembly.

Switching the L seat belt to RHS and R to LHS allows them to slot straight in.

Got the seats yesterday out of 3 door scrapper, (need a good scrub but ok). I am going to strip the van floor etc. & cage today. One thing is puzzling me when removing seats from scraped Freelander was the mounts at the top/rear of seat that hold it upright, have you to make brackets to fix them on to??

Ideally the brackets should be there for the seats to lock into, the salvage yard should have given you these with the seats.

Can be fabricated, more or less the same as a door lock striker, it helps if you have all the brackets

I might be interested in taking these off your hands if you're getting rid of them??

I will be able to get all the fittings I need off the scrapper. I notice I will have probably have to remove interior side panels in van to access fitting the seat brackets etc. Got floor out and(when rain goes off) attack the wire guard.

I think the floor will fit with my existing rear panels, so probably just need the actual floor panel itself and the cage.

BMW - In that case get all the trim brackets, carpet,, underfloor locker lid, odds and sods that you can.

To save you some heartache, the cage has to go out the passenger door, it doesnt fit through the rear door, neither the drivers side because of the steering wheel. (You paying attention to this Hypoboy )
The cage may touch the header trim, its a tight squeeze, was exactly 7 years ago when I did a conversion, still haunts me with getting that cage out LOL.

It got angle grinded into nice small sections when it came out

The plywood will need trimmed slightly, for the side panels behind the seats and the door pockets in the boot. it got ditched it anorl, it's quite heavy and gives good weight reduction when out.

The HD rubber matting is worthwhile keeping

Cannot get the plywood floor out the rear door. "Thinks" the best way to remove it without any hassle would be saw it up the middle???????????

Halfing the plywood floor would allow you to get it !!!!!! Would still be secure when bolted down.

IIRC it came out with ease, think the trim panels were removed and it came out diagonally???

Have you tried lifting the roof a little.

Someone put it in there, so it has to come out in one piece, wouldn't have thought there was too much difference between the early and 06 models.

If all else fails try the passenger door route

surely the key is to remove the rear roof section ?
