Hi
my 90 200tdi landy has its air intake on top of the wing on the left side.
Would this meat cutting a hole in the wing to fit a snorkel?
not sure whether fitting one could be done?
any advice

A genuine 200TDi has the air intake on the side of the NS wing, the intake on the top of the NS wing is for the heater.
Most snorkels for the 200TDi connect to the intake on the side of the wing, for earlier models (2.5NA D & TD) a hole is cut into the top of the wing and for retrofit 200TDi it just depends on what airbox arrangement was fitted.

My td is on the side...

ok its the heater grill on the top. The air filter is under the bonnet its a 200tdi engine fitted to an ex army land rover hence no hole in the wing...i guess this explains it

Sounds like they just used the NA airbox on the conversion. In standard set-up the intake tube pointed to the area behind the NS headlamp if I recall correctly as that way it wasn't drawing air in directly through the grill.

Bull**** TD's have their air intakes on the side of the N/S front wing.

Military N/A's have the heater intake redirected to a series wingvent on the front of the wing and the heater vent on top of the wing is used to house the snorkel intake.

In your own words, bull****!

MOD NA D's converted for wading have that setup but the vast majority have the normal setup of heater intake on the top of the wing and air intake under the bonnet.

So I got the bit wrong about TD's??? You got the bit wrong about MOD NA D's (you should have put SOME) so quits! :D

Another ****!! with OCD. of course it only applies to mod N/A's that have a snorkel fitted. It'd be a bit hard to fit a snorkel to a landy that hasn't been converted toi wading??

been dummy spittin trying to get the effin lights to work on me series today....orf to but some new wire tomorrow as its a complete bag o ****e

Blimey this has opened a can of worms. I dont think i will bother my landy goes just as well now and i have to say having spent 12 years in the army 1985 to 1997 i didn't see too many with snorkels on land rovers. It was just a thought.
can we all be friends now!!!!
