Well.... I finally received my chassis from Richards, and now I've got my 300tdi lump sat on top of it.
I knew this would happen, but I've got to cut bits off my new chassis to make the engine fit. This is going to break my heart!

The search button is your friend, 300 into series is covered. I do feel gutted for you though.

I'm sure I told you this already  that being said you can buy bolt on conversion mounts

Not sure why you bothered to order with the battery tray though......they get cut off for nearly all conversions

I've already got my a 300, Nick. It's almost done now anyway. Does a 200 sit on the old mounts?

I knew it would happen, Doc. It just breaks my heart to take the grinder to something so beautiful. It is only a battery tray, and a bit of engine mount so I think I will get over it. It was just easier to order a standard chassis and do the bashing at home than try and explain what I wanted for someone else to manufacture.

TBA, I'm quite happy that the front x-member is being left in it's "virgin state".

I was going to fab my own mounts - I'll see about price on ebay.

What's the crack with "cold galv paint"? What advantage does it hold over a zinc primer and top coat (underseal for example)? I like an undersealed chassis, and I've seen what salt can do to galv!!

....actually, I doubt any standard mount would fit because my engine is about 4" forward due to non-standard gearbox.
Best thing for me is to:
1) grow a pair and take the grinder to the battery tray and old mounts.
2) sit the whole lot together and make it fit!

It's got a defender LT77 unit on at the mo. Using it as a welding template. If I get brave enough, then I might build an R380 / LT77 hybrid. Just not a priority right now.

300tdi trial fit with bulkhead went OK. Just a couple of adjustments to make. I might make the engine sit a bit higher, now I understand how much room is in the engine bay.
