Hi Landy zone members,

My name is Leo, I am due to receive my 2004 Discovery TD5 this week. Great find on eBay, with advice from a good mate who has been an owner of many discos for a long time. The recent weather has pushed me into the plunge, as we live in a rural area and it is not forgiving to our normal cars when bad weather comes our way! It is going to be very useful and I am quite excited about getting into something new.

I know very little about the mechanics, so any advice or help will be greatly received!

I have uploaded some photos so you can appreciate the level of works the previous owner has put in.

What state is the chassis in? The bodywork has seen some action, so it is likely that the underside has had a few bashes over the years, and unless they are looked after, properly protected and repaired, they can rot quite quickly.

I’ve seen photos and videos of the underneath, it is pretty good. On the advice of a disco expert, the previous owner has spent quite a lot mechanically.

Chassis looks quite good. Been well under sealed in the past, and your talking to a guy that’s booked in for a 1/2 chassis replacement on my D2 so you can imagine how many times Ived asked Leo about the chassis lol
