Just bought my project 1989 110 200TDi - it is 85% complete and absolutely in love with it. Wanted a Landy for 30 years and just never happened. Six months to get her on the road and hoping to have her perfect (relative perspective).

Jobs & Kit to buy : Daunted but can't wait

  1. Get her running - fuel problem bled to the pump but not coming out injectors
  2. New Bonnet TDI (In case I want to ever upgrade engine) and spray
  3. Front and rear bumpers (possible winch)
  4. Sills and Treadboards
  5. Wing air vents
  6. Crate full of nuts and bolts :)
  7. Finish wiring dashboard (Daunting)
  8. Wire up six sensors in engine bay
  9. Attache intercooler
  10. Buy engine bay
  11. Full interior (Looking to hand this to a company and get it back done :)
  12. Drill and attach remaining bolts for roll bar system
  13. Plus a boat load of other jobs

Welcome to landyzone regular users of squeaky steering wheel.

Problem for starting was Fuel Shut off solenoid (now sorted) - next issue is it won't rev up just idles - I suspect the Injector pump has something sticking in it - great condition but not started in 3 years !

Blocked fuel filter would be my port of call if it has been stood... :)

Hi, welcome, agree with the above it does look nice. Will look smart when it's done.
Keep the pics coming

What engine would you change it too for an upgrade?

Just option of TD5 for additional power but honestly if TDi is working well and drivable I will be relaxed on not having additional power

Dead right, they are a LOT less trouble, I have both and have had endless trouble with the TD5, whcih is yet to be more economical. You can make a 300tdi more driveable simply by putting a sports exhaust on and if you want to get more oomph out of it fit a better intercooler.
Loads of stuff ont net.

With a tdi you can always fit a gravity fuel tank temporarily to cut out pump and fuel lines just to see if that is where the fault is or not. ;)

Tdi can be tuned to be well up on power. FWIC and a properly tuned FIP will do it nicely - ask me how I know ;)

Also ask me how I know that you must keep your eye on EGT too  :(
