My p reg 300 tdi seems to blow smoke, like a bluesy grey blackish type. It's not constant or atleast not constantly noticeable. It does a bit on startup and especially when driven hard say up hill, I just don't know what to do as I have not long had the car and really like it so would like to get it sorted!
It's also got and oil leak, I've had a new sump gasket on but that now appears to be leaking more, also leaking from the vac pump gasket so I'm told! And is quite possibly leaking from the rear crankshaft seal.

This is my first Landy

There will always be leaks, it is a land rover after all. Have you serviced it recently? If not give it a go the 300 really likes being serviced and work through the leaks one by one oh and finally accept it will leak its a land rover.

Changing the air filter will probably help, and a good service. So get yourself the Haynes manual as a guide. BTW it's not an ol leak, it's a power overflow.........:D

Cheers folks! Just want to get it sorted. Here's a pic of the bus!
Taking the side steps off and getting some new wheels shortly

As said before, landys leak, period. Mines leaking from the rear crank seal, and im doing that this week while the engines out. My answer to the smoke is a service also, new glo plugs and air filter, or wack a straight through zorst on it, decat, de-egr and smile in a childish way as it smokes even more !

Best thing to do with the oil leak is park it on the road so it doesnt ruin your driveway and just keep topping up as required. With regards to the smoke mine does the same but i have tampered with the fuel pump to get a bit more power, so someone might of been tampering or it could just need a good service with new filters and a bottle of injector cleaner through it might help.

Best of luck with your new toy.

That's a very nice looking Discovery TDi 300 so well done !! But please don't call it a bus, or a jeep, or a truck - they get upset and you'll regret it !!!

These Disco's have sensitive souls. ;)

As a wise Landrover owner said to me once when mine seem to always leak.

Me: Why does my landy leak oil
Landrover Nut: Well my friend if oils coming out thats a good thing
Me: WHy??
Landrover nUt: It means you have not run out of oil.

haha
