Faulty eas (not mine)

Hi lads,bearing in mind where I live I got talking to a expat with a 2000 p38 dse auto,trust me there aren't a lot of Brits where I live let alone another one with a p38,anyways he was chewing my ear about problems with his EAS,it locked so I lent him my unlocking suit and cables(cheers Keith again for those,got me out of the **** a couple of times now)he got it reset but says the front won't lift,the back lifts and drops on command with dash switch,he said it had 4 new bags about 2 years ago and a new compressor,he said he has done a leak test on all pipe work and fittings he can see,now he was speaking to a local garage(btw would be used to working on tractors and old pickup trucks,I know the garage)and they said the EAS ecu is fecked so he sent for a used one from the uk but I've never read that on this forum before,now I've not seen his RR yet he has asked if I would go and have a look at it for him,I have a lot more knowledge on the EAS than I did a year ago but it is still limited,my first thought was solenoids in the valve block?any ideas will be most welcome,cheers lance

You can use eas suite to manualy lift the fronts to rule out things like valve block, ecu and springs

Possible height sensor I had mine doing the exact same on the rear a few months ago and it was a failed height sensor
It did lift manually with eas suite but when unpluged it droped to the bump stops on the rear

Ok I will have a go at that,ive not replaced the height sensors before but from what ive read here it seems straight forward enough,but the garage saying faulty EAS ecu I've not come across that on the forum

If the data cable can fully controll each sprimg i would think the ecu is ok! But could be wrong
Only thing with the height sensor is they changed in 98 and are not interchangeable thats what caused me such a headache (i got the wrong ones)so check the year

EAS ECU is one of the more reliable items on the P38 and unlikely to be the problem.....

Where they are located they can get water damage mind you, so get access to it and check the connections for signs of corrosion....but the ECU itself is very robust!

Like I said I've not looked at his RR yet,so when I do i might have a better idea of what's going on with it,as soon as I get more info I shall report back,he might not even call me !!

What it will not be is the EAS ECU. Connectors behind the kick panels, height sensor, driver pack, leaks from damaged pipes etc etc. As it's both fronts you can also pretty much rule out the valve block.
