would hazard a guess that there is or has been an issue with the data being transmitted to/from the gearbox (guessing it's an auto?)

this may be an issue with gearbox ecu to main engine ecu, or simply that the code reader you used won't communicate with gearbox ecu.

not all readers do everything, some only interrogate main engine ecu, as that is the minimum laid down under obdII

can the code be reset ?

well Ive never been able to get my cheap ebay reader to connect to my TD4 05 freelander. Same as 3 seperate RAC patrols could not connect. And just found out the previous owner of my car took it to a main dealer last October with misfiring problems and they didnt find any fault codes!
Starting to think there is a problem my connection.

By the way cars running great right now just would like to be able to find a reader that works on my car.

Thanks for replies folks . Dont know wot reader was used as the wife took the car to get this done and all was re-set then too along with fitting the new brake switch .Been a good 3 or 4 days since and no lights have came back on so hopin n guessin all is well now .

thanks now Drew
