get proper pipe cutter it ensures square cut which is important when flaring pipe ,get some metric joiners as it helps to make a good job rather than trying to fit complicated lengths awkwardly, ensure you dont loose fluid to apoint air enters from the reservoir i either clamp a flexi or use small taper bung

:behindsofa:

Problem with a "Wheel" type tube cutter is that it closes the cut ends in thus creating a restriction in the bore size, which is small enough as it is. Using a Junior hacksaw and deburring afterwards then blowing the swarf out eliminates this.
Using a small hand bender allows tight bends without collapse or restriction of the pipe due to kinking.
Finally, I have always been opposed to unneccesary joints in any pipework as they just add to a cause of potential leaks.
The worst run is by far, across the front of the tank as it's hard to see but the pipe can be felt and unclipped . When you have done that and turned the corner by the rear r.h. air spring the hardest part has been done.
Don't forget the old hat and goggles etc. as the amount of ****e that's disturbed during removal and replacement of the pipework is a right pain.

i do have some experience , pipe cutter is best iif you close hole clean end or dont put so much pressure on .nothing wrong with joins ,they dont leak and better than over bending pipe to get it fitted ,

Thanks for your input chaps, I have had a good look and don't like what I see. I need to decide where (if) I am going to tackle this job. I don't have anywhere flat to work, whole place is on the side of a hill so difficult to get set up. Might contract this one out.

I'm in the same boat - they've been an advisory for the last 3 MOTs so I suspect I need to do them before the next one which is due soon.

Really don't want to do this one myself!

I was shocked at the state of mine..
The rot on the pipe bend by the rh rear airbag just fell apart once I disturbed the pipe.
God only knows how it didn't burst under braking...

Change it now....

Well, gonna make a start in the morning. Decided I can't afford to let anyone else do it, so thats that. Mind you, I do have a problem trusting anyone else with my Rangie.
I got some info from Irish Rover, enough to give me a bit of confidence so here we go, wish me luck!!!
