Turning up the thermostat on a gas boiler has no effect on the intrinsic combustion efficiency of the boiler. Changing from a normal gas boiler to a condensing gas boiler reduces gas consumption by up to 25% for the same heat output. Again, just an improvement in the amount of energy converted to, in this case heat, from a given amount of fuel

It probably has been chipped as my mate says it has a lot more power than his last p38,as this is the first one I have driven I have nothing to compare against,think I will get the k+n though where is best place to buy one?

So it might of been, but it is a good example of how more useful energy can be extracted from the same amount of fuel

I anit no techno man all I can tell you is where I live is very hilly and before the chip on my way to work going up the heads of the valleys at 60mph the auto would be changing up and down up and down it just wasnt happy but now it just gets to top gear and the extra touque holds it the from bottom to top without a change in gear!! befire I had the chip I reset my trip computer and from top to bottom it showed 12mpg with cruise control on at 60mpg and the same test with the trip on from cold again it showed 18.7mpg ... I had my doubts to hand over the cash but I must say I am very impressed

so its black magic then, simples!!!

you finally got it gav,tis a bit like getting money out of a yorkshire man,almost impossible but can be done when you know how the system works.

Yeah but the cost of the baseball bat to scope him with as he comes of of the ale house ratarsed, is never covered by what he has left in his pocket. Methinks these here power box's have a discreate connection to the trip computer. Or someone has at last invented the perpetual motion machine. The ONLY way of increasing power/torque in a diesel engine with NO other modification is to inject MORE fuel. That is an undisputable FACT. The search for summat for nowt continues.

well I have just done 200 miles on 40quid's worth of fuel at 1.17p a litre and by my books thats not bad never mind the trip computer the fact that it is not changing gear on the hills like it was has made a massive improvment !!!!!! dont knock it until you have tried it me thinks

26 mpg is hardly earth shattering. My P38 is chipped, not a power box but a dedicated remapped chip. It flies, a lot more power and acceleration than standard. But you connot get away from the laws of physics. More power, more torque, requires MORE fuel. The power box may well inject less fuel at certain throttle settings than standard and save a bit that way. BUT IF you are using the extra power you HAVE to use more fuel. Simples.
