Hi all tried this in the freelander section but havent had any luck....
Could someone tell me if it is possible to fit rear facing seats in the back of a freelander, i have seen it somewhere but i cant seem to find it on the net, i have a set of folding seats from a series/defender and the width is fine but i would prob have to shorten the seat pad, its only for occasional use and i would also need seatbelts/harnesses as its for my kids, hope someone can help.
I know i should just go and buy a Disco or a 110 but financial constraints:(:( apply....
Cheers.

First thing I would say is think about what you are doing you are going to be putting your children in the part of the car that is engineered as a crumple (impact absorbtion) area for your car. Have you seen the video of a child (crash test dummy) being launched thru the rear window in a rear end shunt.
Having said that I would think you would have difficulty finding suitable points to fix the seatbelts. I would suggest that you need to consider a different vehicle . JMHO

i appreciate that but it really would only be now and again mainly when family come over....and i have definately seen it somewhere...its only a thought and in the end i will prob try and change the vehicle...its just defenders are really pricy over here,
The only other option i have thought about is importing a 110 from the uk and doing a LHD conversion...any ideas on how easy or viable this is?
And thanks for the swift reply,

yu mite find the rear facing child seats from a Montego are more suitable - if yu can get any.

why dont yu change yo CP to show whereabouts yu are situated - it mite help.

Why not buy a used LHD 110 from the UK there are usually a few about saves all the hassle of having to source LHD parts and ebding up with RHD stuff left in a LHD country Just a thought HTSH:)

I looked at that idea but for some strange and bizarre reason the prices of uk LHD landrovers are almost on par with what they are over here, I think its cos so many people are junking the Uk.
With regards to sourcing parts etc that doesnt seem to be to much of a problem and my incredible plan would be to eventually get all the bits back to the Uk and sell them on Ebay, either my self or a local friend is normally back in old blighty a couple of times a year and i have also got a lovely box trailer to get everything back.
Or if anyone does know of A good LHD defender going cheap in the Uk let me know, any help would be gratefull.
P.s MAD HAT MAN i have changed me cp now so you know where i live...
Cheers

may also be insurance problems with a vehicle that was not intended as a 7 seater in the event (god forbid) of an accident with your kids in the back

i remember when i was a kid we always went in the back of my dads cortina estate - no seats just rolling about on the floor - all the way down to cornwall on holiday - sleepin in the back - we'd have been gonnas in an accident - but no-one bothered back then (seatbelts - what were them ? )
