Afternoon folks. My beloved ex-RAF 90 has developed a wee Gremlin. All indicators and the hazard warning lights have stopped working. Had her for a good few years and no issues, just now when you move the stalk, no clicking, no dashboard display light, and no indicators working. Same for hazard switch.
I've checked the fuses, all appear fine. I've searched and can see on a couple of other threads folk pointing in the direction of the indicator relay unit. Where is this located and what should it look like, and is it just a case of unplugging the dead old one and sticking in a new unit?
Me and electrics have never been the best of friends.

Thanks in advance

As it's ex-RAF, does it have the NATO light switch thing in the middle? If so, is it on a convoy setting? When mine is on convoy mode, the indicators, headlights and brake lights are disabled.

Yes it does have the big NATO light switch in the middle, but it's never been a factor. It's either off or on full headlights at night time. Indicators have always worked regardless.

Down to the right, it has the hazard light rocker switch, some blank rocker switch to the left of the hazard that I've never worked out is for, and to the right I have a big red knob that you pull out to operate the orange light on the roof. Oooer.

The flasher unit is located behind the fuse panel below the dash - screws each end and I'm pretty certain it's the one on it's side. Check the MoD light switch first and if you get stuck give me a shout and I've got a copy of the wiring diagrams for the MoD version.

Good Luck!

OK, here's a weird thing. Got in my truck to go home from work last night, and the indicators were working!!! So were the hazards.

So, guessing I have a dodgy unit that is on it's way out and is now in the "intermittent" phase.

Hazard switch could be knackered, it's the most common thing to fail to be honest.

If they still work put them on and tap at the hazard switch - they may go off again.

Flashers can fail, but would be second on my list of checks - I've used about 3 genuine Lucas switches and still on the original flasher.

Almost certainly the hazard switch, I've had two fail causing no indicators. You can bridge the plug block at the back of the switch with a bit of wire to jerry rig the indicators until you get a new switch.
