Engin flushing

is flushing the engine worth doin. are the products worth the money?

iv only ever used an engine flush on cars or bikes that iv just bought.

I change my oil and filter every 6 month...should I still be flushing?

I've always been told not too by my local garage so I don't.
Don't know the reason, but he's a mechanic with over 20 years experience, and I'm not

I think the danger with flushing your engine, is that all the solid build up can be loosened & end up blocking oilways which is not good! if its an old slogger type engine I wouldn't have thought it be too bad to use it with oil changes, however modern engines using variable valve timing, the veins are tiny and you really dont want any crud in them!

No need to flush with regular oil changes.

No need to use an engine flush for the reasons above. Oil contains detergent anyway. Regular oil changes are all that is needed.

I'll stick to my regular service

I used to in the old days 60s-70s and even 80s but not now a days .the oil produced now are better, but what may be worth doing if you have the td4 is to take the inlet sytem off and give that a good clean,

What others said. Engine flush is "old school" (60s/70s) when engines had generous oil passages, and the oil was organic, and of questionable quality (thermal breakdown being pretty common).
Nowadays,.....synthetic oil, name brand filter, and changes every 10K (or once a year), and all is good.
I run Castrol Titanium Edge in all my machines, and NEVER had the oil related problem.
