Hi,

I recently bought a g plate defender 90 that has been heavily modified (and it rocks!).

i noticed that if i turn on the fan heater and remove the ignition key that the fan heater is still running. this happens for other components too (all of them) but doesn't cause me any concern as one of the modifications is a battery isolator on the front of the battery box that kills power to everything.

my question is, do we think the "always on" electrics are a byproduct of the isolator install, a by design feature of the defender 90 or a problem somewhere.

if it is a problem (in that it shouldn't be that way) where would I start diagnosing likely cause.

thanks

D

does it all finaly go off if you dont hit the kill switch?

Sounds like someone has just wired any new bits straight to the isolator instead of through the ignition key. Its not a problem unless you have an alarm that is triggered by voltage drop because if you have to kill everything when you leave the car there will be no voltage drop....

Hi Dan, it was like this when I bought it, as I used to take the issolator switch out every night (for security) it cuts power to everything, I once accidently left heater on for a whole 12 hour fishing session and came back and though OH DEAR but it started as normal, but get into the habbit of taking switch out then will never have a problem :) hope your still enjoying it mate, You may get some waves as a few mates have seen you but didnt know I had sold it lol :)

As I suspected.... I did something similar on a stock car mini a long time ago...

It almost makes the key redundant.... Hmm big red button....

Enjoying it..... You must be mad.... Its awesome... Driving back from Mayfield everyone gave way.... My daughter was pointing and laughing at "baby cars" all the way home (range rover discoveries). Took a bit of getting used to on the brakes but has made me very happy.... Thanks again
