What electrical cables run either down or along the near side C-pillar??? Every now and then I get a loud electrical noise like an electrical short. It doesn't happen often but when it does it's as if someone has shot a catapult at my landy!!! All my electrical systems appear to all be working fine and nothing has blown. I just want it sorting.

Many thanks.

Its probably a stone being thrown out of a rear tyre and hitting the inside of the wheel well.

Bloody scary the first time that happened!! Now so used to it I dont even flinch. I tend to collect rather large ones in my BF Mud's and every now and again the let go.

That could be feasible but it always seems to be coming from the nearside and not the offside. Surely if it were stones it would occur on both???

more stones collect in the gutters on the near side?

My 96 has no cables behind any of the pillars, the rear lighting goes through the chassis and up through the tub where the rear lighting is.
interior light goes over the top of the headlining
Is yours a CSW or van? mine has a D pillar being the SW, so if it had (as it will) rear load lights, they would go up here.

TBH if it was electrical shorts, it would either do it once and blow a fuse, or it would be more than occasional if it were a bad enough fault to cause that loud a crack from a 12V system, ever shorted accross your battery? sparks yes, but much noise? no.

Just random, There isnt anything there to cause a short circuit id bet a good couple of quid its stones

Thanks guys for putting my mind at rest. Hopefully thats all it is. Best not give a ride to the infirm or those with heart complaints mind cos it would be enough to see them off.
