Done my De-EGR with a kit from ebay, I found a very slight differnce not realy worth worring about, for me the best part of it was I got a bit of space wich will allow me to move my Air box so I can reroute my snorkel to fit an other battery..

The best effect was found when I did the De-Cat.

OK guys bear with me on this one........What your actually saying is leave the gold metal egr pipe in place where it is....... Then remove the big round egr valve,,, Then blank off the hole between the egr valve and its mount, with a 2 pence coin.. then put the valve back on and that should do the job or can you just take the egr valve off all together and sling it .. Don'T shout at me please I'm not much of a mechanic and most things i do go wrong..I have looked up egr removal but most things talk about the manifold end and i just know those 2 bolts would brake if i did it at that end..

Did the EGR on mine 2 month ago

I was worried about them two bolts, soaked them daily for a week, undone them to find it had been blocked already, I carried on and removed the pipes and EGR as I had brought it, I had brought some of them extra long allen keys for a previous job perfect.

Did notice a slight difference in engine note and pulling away. I've kept the bits just incase they make it law you have to have the valve there.

excuse my ignorence but with the decat wont that fail mot. I thought about doing it but a mate said it might fail as they have to have them. (gonna ring my mot man i think??)

OK here i go again.....This afternoon i took the plastic of engine and rad and had a good look ,I now note that the egr valve is not bolted in its fitted to that big chunk of alloy manifold i also see that there is 4 bolts that holds it on then end, but where the gold pipe comes up underneath well i cant see how you get access to it unless i stand on my head and remove the plastic box that holds the jack in place..So i decided to have a go at the two bolts at the original place put allen key in bolt solid allen key seems as thoe it wants to turn in the bolt head, any way that bolt is going no where..I think i will give up on this and leve well alone.

Explain a bit... I think you mean Bang a socket over end of allen key i could grind of the bend in the allen key then bang it into the socket and try that. Not sure about the screw driver idea on my TD5 access to the rear bolt is limited. What can i hit with a screwdriver ??Thanks i will get there eventually..LOL

Hi, just done my egr valve as well. Had read the post about the snapped bolt, so was a bit nervous at first. I must have been really lucky, cos it all went like clockwork. Took less than 30 mins to do and the disco now feels like a totally different beast, It drives!! Mind you, wouldn't have done it had it not been for the posts on this site, so cheers guys!!
