Evening All,

I am thinking about blocking off the EGR valve,

My question is though, on some of the pictures ive found on the net of this, there is no electronics on the EGR valve,

Yet yesterday i had a look at mine, and there is a cable going to it?

Can i still remove it? and whats the cable all about

And lastly, if i block off the EGR is there other things you should do?

as ive seen some people have adjusted the timing etc

Thanks

Mike

just tie-wrap the cable out the way you wont need it, you mite want to flush out the inter cooler if the hoses are really blackened. just flushed mine today and has improved running -apart from a whistling that's started but i think (hope) its just running the left over cleaner through the turbo (i have a post on here asking!)

p.s
don't forget to cap the small vacum pipe

Kool,

Thanks mate,

Think ill s**t meself if i start getting that problem you are though, lol

I had planed to put a another intercooler in there when i done the EGR, but i lost the intercooler 2nite, it was a jeremy j fearn one on ebay, went for £271, i put £300 in but i was too late, already ended :(

just take it out and swish 5 quid of petrol through -leave to dry an she'll be good as new.
before you do the egr spray plenty of wd40 or something similar on the 2 bolts every night for a week before- then when you get the hex spanner on it hope and pray to every god in the world it turns and doesn't round off!!!!!!! i used re-activator, if you can get hold of some it works a treat but don't get it on any plastics, rubber or paintwork!! :D

I blocked mine off with a piece of metal sandwiched between the egr valve and the inlet pipe.So no clogged up pipes now and no running problems, done over 5,000miles like this since blocking the egr and it sailed through emmission test at M.O.T time. After cleaning out the intercooler and the assosiated pipe work I did notice a very slight increace in mid range performance.I'm still after the holy grail of 300TDI auto driving - reasonable acceleration when pulling away.
