Hi

The EAS has been very well behaved on my 2001 Diesel for 2 years now.

However on occasion the 'access' light stays on and the 'standard height' light flashes for a few minutes after start up sometimes, its sorts itself out but just have a couple of questions.

1. what is this indicative of, is it time to give the compressor a check up?

2. what are good preventative maintenance procedures for the EAS?, I recently changed the Dryer and filter and all the airsprings are about 18 months old, I also clean the height sensors when underneath the car.

Other than the above, I haven't fiddled with the EAS at all.

Many thanks

Ash

Do you put the car in access height after each journey? Or has the car sunk on its own?

The light thats flashing is the height the car is trying to achieve, in this case it sounds like there is not enough air in the system for it to rise to standard height, or not enough air pressure to overcome what is already in the springs etc.

It is probably a leak from the storage side of things or leaking bags (unlikely if they are new as stated) or the compressor is not strong enough to provide enough air pressure quickly. But in most cases even if the compressor is not THAT strong there should be enough in the tank to get the car back to standard height within a few seconds.

However if you are not putting it in access height after every journey and when you come back to it its sunk then I would look to solving that problem first!

It means the car has sunk to a point below when it considers itself at the previous height...so it is indicating to you that it is no longer where you left it but lower and wants a response from you to what it should do.

Usualy an indication of a leak either in the bags, pipes thereto or in the vavle block.

Storage side leak, most likely NRV 1. Refurbish the valve block.

How much does the car drop overnight?

Thanks everyone, hard to say Keith, not noticeable, but since I have owned the car there is always a load of clicking from the valve block (I assume) after I lock it/close the door.
As Tony says the valve block may need an overhaul, I used to pull my own diving regulators apart (and never drown) and fix my underwater cameras, so I'm hoping I'll be ok with he valve block and compressor refurb?

Quavey, I rarely go near the Height switch (out of fear!!), so never put it into access mode.

Clicking after you close the doors is normal.
If it's not dropping, I would agree with Wammers. Valve block overhaul. Not difficult, just don't get the solenoids muddled up. Make sure the galleries are not full of white ****e.
