I spoke to soon about my beloved 2002 L322 TD6 HSE being good as gold. Had the EAS re-set last week at the stealers who just changed the settings from Temperate to Cold region - worked fine for a week with full movement up adn down. Then I went away for a week and on starting the EAS warning light come on. Just had a computer diagnostic done again and the compressor is not fully replenishing the bags. Been quoted £500 (fitted, inc. VAT) for a new one.

My query is:
1. Is there a way to repair the compressor or get a second hand one fitted? Anyone know anyone good around the Bristol/Swindon/Wilts area to do it?
2. Is this a good price?

Cheers. (gotta say this is a great forum - good jokes and banter as well as advice.)

Seeing as you can get a brand new pump for a lot less than £200.00 and it takes about twenty minutes to fit i would say someone is taking the ****. Wish i could have a business changing them at that price. Open at 8 o'clock shut a midday two or three grand in my back sack. Luvverly.

thanks guys. Wammmers, where are they for sale at £200? I've only seen £300 + del.

Would it be possible to have just the compressor looked at, and as it's just unable to get to full pressure, maybe it's just a seal needs replacing? that's only £30. the original quote was £300 for the comp, £130 for labour + vat. I think it's only a case of undoing the compressor mounts and plug in the new one isn't it?

Yes you are correct, i was quoting for the P38, yours is of course the newer version. Famous Four do them for yours at £275 + vat but there will be cheaper places. £130.00 for labour does seem rather a lot though. I do not know about L322 but you can change the pump on a P38 in around ten to fifteen mins. With another ten to fifteen minutes to run it up and check it out. Lack of full pressure usually means piston seal knackered if it was a P38 i could give you a run down, but know nothing of the L322 set up. You could get someone to look at the pump for you, if they are anything like the P38 unit they are pretty simple to sort out.
