Freelander 1 Driving to france, any advice beforehand?

Hi guys, getting away for a little bit of biking in the mountains and i'm going to load the car up and head off on sunday.

1.8k series, head gaskets fine. No coolant loss, recently changed the gearbox oil tyres all have decent tread, running 2wd mode at the minute. Want to give the car a check over to make sure the drive is as problem free as it can be so have you got any advice on bits to check over before i go?

check your RAC membership.

Check that you have the required EU road emergency kit available. when returning back make sure all doors are locked if coming back via Calais.
