seriously this country is a bunch of big feckin girls when it comes to a bit of feckin snow,the whole country comes to a stand still

how the fcuk do you think the people in Canada get on do they feck of home when the weather man mentions it might snow?

and the ice road truckers do they stay at home cos its cold and icy

You have to remember here 98% of drivers panic in any weather, other then pure sunlight, and out of them 40%+ drive things like BMW's (the ultimate marketing campaign) which just stop with said 6 flakes of snow.

Personally I look forward to snow, except in our Smart Car which stops with about 2" of the stuff, having said that I could put it on the Disco roof rack :)
 
lots of power and opposite lock! may want to fit windscreen wipers to side windows? But in all seriousness as has been said little/no brakes and real gentle on accelerator unless you want to power slide, my first year driving last year in snow and was fun :)! Just take your time, slow and steady wins the race and watching BMW ballet makes the day even better:)

wont happen tried that last time in snow tc cut in and put me back in straight line:mad: well ****ed off free road loads of space and the disco wouldn't play ball
 
When I get a chance I throw my D2 around a bit in the snow to test TC, ABS etc. You have to get the feel/experience of sliding out of control to know how to react when it happens for real.
Not really sure about all the comments re stopping. Not really thought of that as a major issue. I'd say the main risk is going sideways on a bend, then you are in trouble!

makes you wonder why people bother buying these motors when they have to go on a forum and ask "how do I drive it?" RTFM, you passed a test? common sense or stay off the roads, people like you cause accidents. Get on a bus.......
 
what everyone else has said, slow and steady untill you get the hang of it, went out porposely 2 ears ago in the snow learning how to drift on deserted roads to know hoe to keep contol and correct mistakes nothing beats experience

Whats the best tyre to use in the snow? Mine are all black and round and I wondered if they were ok, or should I use special white wall ones because they will make my Disco look like it is floating. Any advice appreciated, would the ones below be any good?

Do you know if you have a centre diff lock? If you do and you're on snow select diff-lock until the road surface is clear.

I have to diss agree with that, i found when i had my CDL engaged in snow it was harder to control and want to oversteer and as soon as took disengaged CDL had much more control IMHO
 
Apart from odd tosser great advice.

2 main roads blocked on why back home so decided to divert through the lanes. This is where the fun really began. After going through a village there is a back road which is about 10 minutes in normal conditions. Snow and drifting had occurred but decided to go for it. 5 minutes down road and Range Rover stopped coming other way and said so not attempt going over hill as it is impassable with a Disco already stuck. Decided to try three point turn which caused mt to slide sidewards down the road. Back in control went back an easier route!

All good fun in end
