Looks like my gearbox has finally decided to play up full time, I get the flashing M and S lights every time I put it in reverse.

Operating procedure: start engine, select reverse, complete reversing manoeuvre, pull over, select neutral, stop engine, restart engine, select drive and off I go. Repeat as necessary. :frusty:

Seems that it will be a fooked (w)xyz switch, but it has to go into the LR specialist next week anyway so I’ll see what they say

You might be right about the xyz switch, I had a similar problen with my TD5 a few weeks ago. Consulted the manual and it told me that the flashing "M" & "S" lights indicates an electrical fault in the gearbox. I spoke to a friend of mine who works on Landys and he told me to check all the wiring going to and from the box. Might be a long shot but a lot cheaper than letting the main stealers do it............

Might just be a duff battery, the ECU likes a good voltage, if the battery is low it will throw the lights, the cold weather will also make "dying" batteries worse. Def worth checking out the charge voltage and battery voltage.

Interesting, the battery voltage is 12.2v and the charge voltage is 14.8v and there is plenty of oomph to start, however the indicator on the battery is either black (needs charge) or clear (replace) depending on veiwers interpretation. I'll pop down to my mechanic on Monday and get him to test the battery properly, it is about 6 years old so it could be nearing the end of it's life.
