Hi All,

I have seen the many many post regarding the door spring in the passenger doors etc. Mine I think maybe different. The door just will not open.

I can operate the central locking and the inside handle and all parts appear to move even when pulling the outside handle the inside bits seem to move, I can feel them. the door just will not open even with assistance from my boot.

My daughter slamed it shut and it just has not opened since.

I do know that I have to break my arm in 2 places just to get at the lock when the door is closed and the only way I can see in is with the use of mirrors which is not very helpful.

Any ideas?

I have a similar problem with my drivers door.

It often gets stuck from inside and out even though the button goes up and down with the central locking.

I have had the door card off and everything seems ok, but seems the rods may not be moving just enough to open the door.

From outside I need to lock and unlock to make it work and from inside I need to keep pulling at the handle hard while leaning on the door until it opens.

Very frustrating.

Have the same problem with mine. If you just pull the button up about 2mm it works, looks like it's just needs to move the little bit more.....but won't.
There is a u shaped rod that goes around the window channel that is the problem.

That's true for opening it from the outside, I can lift the button a little but it does not work from inside.

I'll check that rod later.

Nothing seems to work for me. I can get my hand inside and feel around all levers seem to move but nothing happens, can't get in there very easily when door is shut which is causing all sorts of problems working blind.

I just fixed this last week. You need to remove the door card, one screw in the interior door handle and two bolts on the grab handle. Then use a trim remover or tool or a big screwdriver and pop the card off. You'll also need to unbolt the central locking solenoid type thing unless you have tiny hands. Then there's a rod (like a wire coat hanger) that is hooked to the door handle and clipped in place. You need to push it out of the clip and unhook it and then rotate it, the bottom end is threaded and attached to the door opening mechanism, so the shorter you make the rod (by screwing it in more) the less you need to pull the handle.

Hi George, is this happening on your 90?
I've been having the same problem this week and hoping to have a play with it this weekend.

No it's on the wife's disco, she's getting ****ed off with having to get in the back door & climb over. lol

Just for everyone I had a similar problem until One day I could no longer open the door using either handle. I had to remove the door card as best I could from inside and remove the actuator retaining bracket. This allows enough room to put your hand inside the door and trace the left most rod that Connects the door release catch to the outside handle. You have to flick a retaining swing catch to the side which allows to to pull out the end of the rod. Once this is done you should be able to use the inside handle to open the door. Once open adjust all the rods as let previous posts and test and re test locking the door each time until the tolerances are Correct. If you adjust one rod too much it will pull on the other rod and prevent either of them working. Hope this helps people I have seen in the last That some garages chisel the lock out and charge the earth for a new one.

Friend of ours slammed his passenger door and caught the seat belt in the latch - took me over an hour to wangle the darn thing open ...
