Over the weekend, I removed one of the door tops from my running series 3 as it needs replacing and this is soon to be done.
However, the door top which I have removed still has a bit of life left in it yet, and I would like to put it on my other series 3 so that I can finally secure it better than a sheet of tarpaulin.
There is one problem. The only way I could remove the door top was by grinding through the studs holding it on. This means that there is now half a stud stuck in the series 3 door top, and no way of getting it out.
I did some searching and it seems that these studs are actually welded in place and can't be removed from the Series 3 door tops. The best suggestion I have come across is to drill out the stud, and then tap a 11/16 thread for a defender door top stud.
Does anyone have any ideas which may be better?
Thanks
