Door Swap Problems

Need some advice!

I'm rebuilding my 91 200tdi, and as the doors were rotten I bought two new ones some time back, I think from Craddocks.

The snag is the new doors are the all steel ones, at least that's how they were advertised. The inner layout is different. I've just started to swap bits over and there seems to be more different than I first thought. The inner carrier plate bolts the same along the top, but there is nowhere for the sides to mount......and how the hell do the glass channels come out??

Does anyone know if my old parts can be used at all, or do I simply have to dump all and buy more.

If I remember right the old internals wont fit in the tdci one piece steel doors.
Not without modifications anyhow.

Most of the moving parts seem to be in the same place, and the same type, but the mounting plate is different.

Does anyone know if these can be bought seperately??

Of course the bloody doors are painted. They were really just new door skins, and the were bought as seconds really, one had a small mark on it, but I thought they were a good buy at the time!

Thanks for sharing this has helped me decide. I have been looking at cost to refurb verses replace all 4 doors on my csw and although new doors seem a better idea, when you add the cost of building them up and painting, refurb is more economical, and guaranteed to match the car.

I bought two new 2011 doors last year for £700 complete with electric window motors, glass, door cards, hinges, alloy handles and outer handles. They were taken off a new car and still had the anti bump foam blocks attached. I bought new inner handles and fitted all the rest of the bits from my 1994 model. Had no issues and they are superb. I can't see anything that is not the same or compatible.

My problem is I bought the outer skin only, and the carrier plate on the inside was not included. This is different, and it carries the latch, winder mech etc etc
