I need to replace my door bottoms asap, now its becoming winter, and drafts are coming in where the door bottom does not exist anymore . Well my question is would it be possible to weld the new ones in wth an arc welder?

Unless your a mega awesome welder I'd say you really need a mig as it's only about 1.5mm steel, but then you could prob get away with a load of tack welds with thin rods to stop blowing holes thru, you can hire migs for a day quite cheaply.

Yes it is possible using low power and 1.5mm rods. At low enough amps though they may be difficult to strike up.

However, if you warm the rod against a bit of scrap earthed onto the frame first, then when it is glowing you should be able to run from there.

If your power is too high you will just blow big holes through.

Welding is the most erotic of all the manual jointing skills ... more details sometime later - maybe!!
