Im deeply unhappy about the quality of the brake master cylinder I bought from a well known supplier, it turned out to be Britpart - doesnt fit properly, voids in the casting. It will be returned.
So
Ive got the original Girling master, can it be refurbished ? I hear that simply replacing seals with a kit often doesnt work well.
Where might I send it ?
All advice welcome

Most garages would put a seal kit in for you and maybe hone the cylinder. But it probably cost 80-100. You don't say what model it is but you can get oem cylinders for 160 so why not buy a decent cylinder and maybe have a go at the girling one yourself.

And another thing. The pattern ones can be a quarter or less the price of a "well known" one. Why (and how) could it be the same quality as the oem?

some pattern parts are better than others. With prices so variable its hard to know what one is getting. From now on I wont be buying anything without a recogniseable name on it.

Which seal kit should I go for ? It wont be ****part.

Only ones I would use are girling, Lucas or trw (Ithink trw owns the other two now - could be wrong)

I'm sure there's other good stuff out there but why take the chance.

Girling Lockheed and Dunlop Wheel Cylinders and Master Cylinders for Classic and Vintage Vehicles

There are engineering companies doted around the country that specialise in hydraulics who would be licenced to work on brake parts aswell meaning if the master cylinder needed work they could carry it out aswell as re-seal it for you.

mite be worth having a ring round and see how you get on :)
