i think someone was bored, so, put some random electronics together and put it in a vehicle to confuse an owner several years later... ... ... :D

I did that with a fireplace I built about 18 years ago for a laugh had a couple of old gold rings and built them in to the fireplace in the hope that in years to come they will be found and wonder what the story behind them was all about.. Man am I sick.lol

I've heard of sensors or black boxes being fitted to vehicles driven by young drivers to reduce their insurance premiums. The data is collected by the insurance company and if the kid drives like a lunatic his premiums reflect this. Maybe an early version.

Yes it could be, but I doubt many young drivers would be in range rovers, I am still open to ideas though as I haven't been able to establish a positive id on it yet, thanks.

+1 to that, deffo not XLRs of any description.
not quite convinced on bleecon either, dont they have a larger shoulder for the bayonet lock to lock into, those only seem to have a dimple to lock onto.

Could be wrong, but it looks rather simmilar to the connectors on the old Strand Tempus analogue lighting desks that I used to play with - they were definitely bleecon connectors on those. They're only glorified locking DIN connectors at the end of the day!

He already knows what it is but he can't confirm or deny that…

But remember.....it is in the UKs best interest to monitor individuals for the protection of others.....because of that device many lives have been saved..

....although i can not confirm that;)

But what about the 23 life's lost during the prototyping stages

not that i would know anything about that ;)

Showed these pics to a vehicle safety engineer. The box looks like a data logging unit, the sensors looks like they could be accelerometers, especially given their placing around the vehicle.

So, that would indicate some kind of vehicle testing that involved logging how the vehicle moved and rotated in all dimensions.

Car manufacturers do use setups like this to test how vehicles behave under various driving conditions but it doesn't look like original manufacturer equipment, which would never make it onto a production vehicle in any case.

One theory is that someone, maybe a magazine or someone involved in a legal case, decided to do some third party stability testing on the rangerover (although its a mystery why the equipment would be fitted under the floors rather than just temporarily fitted inside)

Going on that theory, could it be a vehicle tuning company with a rather large budget say over finch? That did vehicle testing on their modifications and you could possibly have one that they put back to standard?

jeez your showing your age there.

You used to get those kinds of plugs in side avo 72way dimmer racks, from memory they were used to link the data from the brain to the modules.

I'm only 28!

The tempus kit was just what I started playing around with at school - it was old hat then but still worked! I think it's even still in use at the school!
