Do i need the special tools?

Hello All,

So i recently discovered the head on the P38 2.5 Diesel was cracked.

I will be replacing the head however i don't have any of the special timing tools. I know they can be bought for roughly £50 however i was wondering if i really need them? or is there another method of getting the timing right?

OK, just wondered if there was another way around it.
