Hi All
I have a 1999 (T) Discovery TD5and have noticed fuel has begun leaking from under the fuel tank...what is here , a fuel pump and sender unit?

Will I need to replace the entire unit or is it possible a seal or something may have gone?
Where can I buy whatever I need from online?

When the jeep stops after a few minutes the leak will stop!!

Many Thanks

I would start bygiving it a good clean to see where its leaking from. The tank is plastic with a thin steel cover, may be punctured. Fuel pump sits in tank from the top, as the fuel is recirulated it could be leaking through the delivery/return piping.Possibly a split filler tube.

A couple of years ago I had my TD5 serviced by a non LR back-street dealer. 100 miles up the A9, late at night, I thought "the rear window's got spray on it but it's not raining"!!! The guy had left the fuel filter gasket off the old filter still on the housing, and then screwed the new filter on...I therefor had 2 gaskets... Fuel was ****ing out but only when the ignition was on so the fuel pump was pressurising the system.
The RAC recovery guy came out (in a land rover), screwed off the filter, removed the stray gasket and away I went!

thanks for your advice guys , I'll give it a good clean to see where the diesel is leaking from and then go from there.
will update my post after that.

lol ,this is an old post so would be in trouble if i hadn't fixed it by now.....it was the unit hanging down that was leaking the fuel filter apparently....aroung 90 quid and abour 2hrs to replace , hope this helps
