Yup, loads of guides and help on the net, Saint. V8's is spot on. Other than the obvious (timing tools, and a belt kit) make sure you have a GOOD breaker bar to do the crank bolt back up, the 1/2" drive one I've had for about 10 years met its sorry end doing that bugger up, too much chinesium in it.

Halfords had a sale on workshop tools and I have a 15% off voucher so went and bought a Halfords Professional ballbearing slider toolbox! Cost me £85, was £200! Thought I might as well with all the extra work I am doing on the landy haha

Got my new hub in the post so got straight on it, changed it all over in less than an hour. Done this so many times now, guess you could call me a pro lol

The disc was heavily worn and I had some spare rear discs so changed that over purely so I don't have to go back to it later

BAM! Done lol, told ya I was quick here!

Fitted new flange bolts as well as quite clearly my others decided they didn't want to leave the old hub. One thing I noticed now as this flange now sits right against the hub, when I used to lift the clutch up there was a quite noticeably audible DONK noise, i thought it was some play in the transfer box. Now that is completely gone!!! I've come to the conclusion the donk was this flange having about 5mm play each way because the bolts weren't all the way home. Result!

New pads as well

First time off the drive in a while hahaha

Shame as I pulled off the drive, the passengers side CV joint started clicking. This has always done this a little but never this bad. I realised after I pulled it back on the drive I left diff lock on so maybe it put extra strain on it I don't know. I've also got to sort the tracking out as it's obviously out a little but that's because I have a new steering bar. The Terrafirma steering damper is awesome. when turning the wheel wants to gradually return to straight line which is nice. Before it more or less stayed there a little. Now the wheel has a little bit of weight to it which I like as well.

Oh and forgot to mention the exhaust sounds mental compared to standard. Boost pin is great too. Shot up the road was a little taken back by how much a decat/straight through and *working* boost pin actually does.

Going to get a boost ring from Fourby at some point as well as I've heard that does wonders.

Went out after work, had a good time even if it was only for 2 hours or so.

Before I went out I corrected the tracking as looking at it, it was off slightly. Even though I thought I measured the bar pretty ok! That completely stopped the CV from clicking but I will still replace it in the very near future.

Going up a hill I started to see the temp rise, nothing bad but certainly when it's 3/4 of the way to certain death you don't really want to continue driving. Good job I had my viscous fan spanner and fan in the boot! Side of the pilgrims way byway I was refitting in pitch black my fan. Back down to lovely temps. No idea why i decided against fitting it, didn't think it would need it. Rookie mistake!

Smart chest from halfords, good price as well for one of them - for future use if you don't have one already is their trade card http://www.halfords.com/advice/motoring/trade-card/trade-card . I'd not bothered getting one for yeas as I assumed I'd have to fabricate garage based invoices and such, but turns out pretty much anyone can go in nowadays looking a bit scruffy with some ragged paper and get one... worked for me anyway after reading the tip on here! Ideal for when you need a battery or a wiper or some triviality in a pinch on a Sunday.

Surprised to hear it was creeping up the old temperature gauge while moving without the fan also, had the fan off mine since last summer without issue - got a temperature sensor plumbed in the radiator on the top plug and it never sees over 62c at the top of the rad while moving, even uphill (even if only at about 5-15mph). Might be worth seeing if your rad is clogged up, or spend even more money! Easier to change the cambelt with the rad off after all, grand excuse to burn wealth on a new one

What do you need to get one? Not much of a clue on the website, other than register on-line and then go to a store???

I went in looking scruffy after registering with a payslip & ID, at the time I think with the work van on a weekend. The bloke on the desk glanced at my ID but nothing else, bish bash bosh off I went with some money off a set of hex keys

.

The "trade" allowance extends to pretty much all trades, not just mechanic based.

Mine was pretty switched on.

Luckily I had a business card for my "4x4 modification company" cost a fiver. Plus I also had a "receipt" for a job which I was about to "post" to the customer, had to tear the envelope open to show them.

I'm self employed and carry a dozen business cards at all times so no drama there and I can print off an invoice at home, should be sorted by the end of tomorrow

Passed MOT today, had advisory on the sills (I knew that was coming) but that was all I was told, pick it up later so will see the list of advisories if any more. He did say it was very well kept for an old land rover!

Yep, already got it ordered. Could only order in 7m lengths but they will cut it to 1400mm long for me, going to ask if they can do a 45 degree or so angle at each end so the box sections doesn't interfere with the wheels on articulation.

So I'll have a few spare, will likely do the same to my dads land rover and then sell the rest.

got 1400Lx60Wx100H mm 3mm thick cost about 70 quid

I think I gave it only it's second ever clean that I have done haha. Only because it was very very muddle from when I last used it and it was thick in the arches and inside so kinda had to make it respectable haha
