Hi
I'm sure this is covered somewhere. I have a 2004 Descovery 2 TD5 which has recently had a new fuel pump, filter and injectors. However even before this I found that until the revs reach at least 1,500 I have no real power which is a pain at junctions for example. Once the turbo kicks in at 1,500 revs its fine. But whenever the revs drop back down again below 1,500 rev I'm lacking power. It drives fine however at all other times. Is this normal?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, the std D2 TD5 is lacking below 1800 rpm when pulling away from junctions.

But first make sure it is running correctly , find a friend to plug it into a nanocom or hawkeye. You could try disconnecting the MAF sensor and seeing if that improves things as well.

A lot would recommend getting a stage 1 tune , Mike at Dynachip does a good job.

Cheers

Thanks for your prompt reply.
At least its normal which is a good thing I guess.
I will look at Dynachip
Thank you very much -- Steve

I'd agree with @neilly , sort it out with a service and a full diagnostic check before getting a re-map or chip. No point chipping/modding something that's not working properly.

No it's not normal! Of course you should be able to pull away. I'd suggest that you find someone with a Nanocom and do a live data run (Inputs Fuelling) and take a look at the values you get for MAF (airflow) , MAP (air pressure), IAT (temp), etc. I'd venture the MAF and MAP sensors are not giving the ECM the values it needs to calculate the right fuel injection. You should also check your turbo wastegate is not sticking as this is another common problem. However, without the data, you're peeing in the wind. And we'reassuming your new fuel pump, and injectors are not the problem having been replaced.
Good luck

Sorry just read this back and it sounds a bit aggressive. Not intended.
