Hi all

Ive been an bough a 1KΩ resistor to do the fuel pump mod on my 96 300tdi disco as my car is an EDC and i cant tune the pump, ive had a good look about and cant find info on what pins to put it between on the pump socket...?

any help or diagram would help a lot, Thanks

I have searched mate found a few bits but all the wrong colored wires and no fitting info ...ill have another look, i was going to get the variable resistor but the thread i read the guy used a 1KΩ...best have another good look!

if anyone knows a good thread with fitting instructions feel free to paste the link;)

Mod done and works well....defiantly feels like your not having to give it as much gas to reach your acquired speed, makes a big difference on motorways etc and certainly makes the car feel like its not working as hard.

for anyone wanting to do the mod i used a 1Koh Min Dual Pot from maplins and fitted it to a blank switch cover, and works ok for me when set right:D

Sorry for digging up the old post

I have done this on mine 1 k variable etc looking like yours in the pick

its hooked to the thin red and normal green / pink on the EDC ECU harness under the dash

All it manages to do is make the cut out or miss really badly if its turned down this is also the case when its under load.

Am i missing something ?

0 ohms it will be rough
1000 Ohms you will not notice any difference
some where in between will be the sweet spot.

Yep though that it just doesn't seam to work even if i am really fine with the tuning i think it may be a rubbish resistor but just wanted to check i have it wired right i have seen posts for it to be wires to the pump connector pin 6-7 but with out looking i would imagine this is the same red and green pink wire ? or should i try it on there

what you really need to do is look at the wiring layout in a haynes and check you have got the right pins on the ecu.

you could also check you have a liner resistor and not a logarithmic one and that it is working by checking with an ohm meter.

How do i cabel up this mess? Green/pink & red wire is 4 in the end and the pot has only 2 gates. Can someone send a pic or a link of the wireing loom ?

Harald :)

I followed a thread on here and had the same problem Didn’t make a difference apart from rough running when turned down, my car never smoked and it always felt under fueled. I have eventually done a manual pump conversion and dropped a running pin in. Much improved!!!!!!
