HEEEEEELLLLLP.
I have a 1998 TD5 and it's developed an intermittent starting problem. First thing in the morming it will start no problems, if I then turn it off and try to start again nothing happens, all the warning lights come on and off as normal and when I turn the key to crank there is just nothing (no click from the starter motor solenoid which is only 18 months old). If I then leave the car for 20 min plus it will usually start fine again allbeit sometimes with a slight hesitation from the key being at crank position and anything happening. I have replaced the battery and cleaned all the terminals and earths on top of the engine bay.
Any suggestions please. :)

Jump starting doesn't make any difference. Regarding the starter solenoid I would have expected the headlights to dim, but they don't at all.
I haven't tried bump starting but will in a min, it'll be a tow from the old mans Focus (bless).

head light will not dip unles its drawing power if the starter or wiring after the battery is at fault then the lights will stay the same what you need to do is see is power is getting to the starter also check the little wire is giving power when you turn the key this will be a real pig to do if you changed the starter last time then you no what i mean could also try running a wire from the solinoid wire (little wire)to the battery tap it on the battery and see is it turns over (make sure its out of gear)

check the little black clip black wire that goes to the starter it just pushes on that might be the problem as i have had this before
