Disco axle onto defender

Hi everyone a questions reguarding fitting a rear axle from disco and putting on defender, but how do you remove the rear 3 bolt flange on the disco axle as there is no big bolt to hold it on there is just a 1 inch metal shaft about 15mm wide ish, I have fitted the 300 tdi rear axle from a 96 disco to my defender so was just hoping to take the 4 bolt of my old and put on the new.

Any advise please people???

its got an 8mm threaded hole you can either wind long 8mm set screw through to pust it out or fasten a slide hammer to ,its just a tight press fit ,bolt is under this and when fitting other flange you may need spacer too

It does have a threaded hole but id say a 6mm, ill heat it up to help it and see how it goes in the morning. Just hoping I can fit my defender one.

Howcomes the spacer maybe required?

spacer was allways fitted under earlier flanges ,3 bolt had it incorperated ,some later 4 bolt do ,but most dont use one out of your old diff ,swapping flanges doesnt alter diff setting
