Disco 300tdi keeps Running with key out ?

Right guys need a little help

Got out of my disco today and turned the key to off position and it carried on running even with all the dash lights going off. put the key back in turn to running position dash lights come back on and went off as normal..

any ideas have to stall it to turn it off ?

Fuel stop solenoid might be sticking open.

Check its not running on the engine oil via blown turbo seals or knackered rings. Does it smoke lots?

na no smoke at all guys could it be the igniton barrel?

how can i check the solenoid ? where is it located ?

i would put me bets on that aswell warn out barrel

would even tho the dash lights go out when you turn the key to the off position ?

Its on the back of the fuel pump. Depending what year disco,it'll either have 1 or 3 wires going to it. If its a 1 wire setup its an easy job. Simply unplug and unscrew the solenoid. The little spring might of given up. Their cheap to buy,about 8quid off ebay.

i had same problem, had just changed rear brake light and put a single filament bulb in instead of a double filament :doh:
