After 25 years, 15 of which in my ownership the disco is no longer fit for service due to Mr RUST. Have renwewd the inner body, boot, sills, arched, front inner wings but chassis is in need of renewing. Certainly not for me to do, too old. So the excellent running gear is up for sale. I am really gutted having maintained the car and everything works as should do, even the sun roofs do not leak.
So if anybody is interested my tel is 07974 806032 or 01685 371981

Following on from previous;- Spent a few days looking for a disco 3 or 4. Every garage selling land rovers, mainly freelanders could not offer me any of the mentioned 3 / 4.
All I was getting was Too unreliable to put onto the forecourt, most had a fairly good stock of freelanders. Another quote was - landrover has lost its way, sad to realise that after allthe years of ownership of L R product was guided to another make. Still hurts that my disco in the end succomed to mr RUST.

Don't discount the Freelander, excellent reputation for reliability and rust resistance. I was speaking to a Mot tester last week, 4wd vehicles in general have rust issues, also newish Fords though may have been referring more to vans which seem to be rusting seriously.

A Freelander 2 is longer and wider than a 300 TDI, with a 5" longer wheelbase, but is a few inches lower in height, however drive wise, it's on a different planet.
The FL2 is much cheaper to fuel, much faster, and much safer too.
Don't dismiss them, as they're good all round vehicles, and just as capable off road, and miles better on it.
The only thing that put some people off is the lower towing capacity of 2000kg, but if that's not a problem, you could do a lot worse than a good condition FL2.
