Disco 2 rocker shaft snapped

Anyone had it happen ? It started making a pop pop noise on my way home so taken rocker cover iff and the rear bolt closest do windscreen has pulled out causing the shaft at the next bolt hole forward to Crack. Now the question is has anyone else had it happen and can it be helicoiled ?. I know ideally it will need a new head but funds and time won't allow it at the min. I've sorted a replacement shaft I just need to sort the threads out to be able to get a new bolt in. All help appreciated

Isnt the carrier and shaft machined together, so they need replacing as a pair ?

It's the bolt that holds shaft down to the head that's stripped

Ah, I thought you meant the cam shaft had broken... I've not woken up properly yet...

I've rang round local nobody wants to do it if ibwas competent enough I'd do it myself but don't quite fancy taking the risk. I need it sorting asap I take Mrs and kids away next Tuesday

Does the cam frame still sit tight to the head casting, or is there a gap?

Plenty of vids on youtube, helicoils are not that hard to drill and fit, you could practice on a scrap bit of aluminium first.
I reckon no one wants to do it as they are worried should there be an issue with the repair, then it becomes their issue.

It's all sat nice and tight still I've managed to get the helicoil in will see how it goes.
