Daisy's (2004 Td5 Landmark - UK model that emigrated to Oz when we did) aircon blower fan isn't blowing and we live in Australia so we need this fixed asap. Can't find anything on the forum that matches so it's over to the brains trust. Here's the symptoms:
When Daisy starts in the morning, the aircon blower fan works just fine. In the afternoon, when it is a lot warmer, it randomly fails to start. Also, this arvo it wasn't blowing as strongly as usual and eventually packed up on the way home. Thank goodness I live in Canberra where our traffic jams are minor and the humidity is much lower than Sydney!
I've checked the fuses and they are all good, as I expected because the fan does at least come on from time to time. I can hear the a/c compressor pump running and when the fan does run, the air is icy cold so I am confident that the a/c magic is working, it's just the fan (I hope).
I've checked the Haynes manual and changing the fan is a 1 spanner job, I've also got the proper workshop manual and do most of my own maintenance. BUT I have seen some worrying YouTube vids involving fuse No 7 in the cab and running a fly lead from the battery with a separate 30 Amp fuse. I really don't want to be bodging extra wiring into Daisy if I can avoid it.
I've ordered a 2nd hand blower fan and it's on the way but in the meantime, does anyone else have advice or experience of this fault, it's not one I have come across before.
Did I mention that I live in Australia? Please help!
