Disco 1 - Hand Throttle

Hello,

I was talking to a chap at work today who said they used to fit a hand throttle to military vechiles. This helped bump up the amps produced by the Alternator when a winch for example.

Can one of these hand throttle be retro-fitted to my 300tdi Disco 1? and if so how to I go about doing it?

All you need is variable means for holding the throttle open operated from the dash, design one your self if u feel it's something you need.

I once saw a guy using a modded vacc actuator off a cruise control system, he used a vacc solonoid off a 200Tdi ventilation fan box on a switch, flick the switch and the vacc from the brake vacc pump pulled the actuator open to the preset revs and held it there, he set it for 1850rpm just so the turbo was spooling and then any increase in load would be compensated by the boost.

Have a look at the Isuzu/Chevrolet Manual Hand Idle Speed Adjuster Throttle Cables.
You could probs. use a makeshift connector directly to the accelerator pedal as actually done on some Isuzu/Chevrolet automobile models.
