Hi, now that I have sorted my EAS problems I want to move onto the next problem!!
The diff or diffs in my 1999 4.6 are very noisy, they have been since I bought the car, I've left them until I have sorted other problems but think I better get them sorted!
I checked the oil in them, the front had little more than a spoonfull!! and the rear had about 2.5 ltr of muddy oily water!!
I'm happy to just go with some good second hand as I don't do huge mileage in the car it is just a spare and towing car.
I know there is 2 pin and 4 pin, 4 pin being the better, you see advertised 4.0 4.6 and diesel diffs and axles, my prefered option is to buy complete axles as price wise there is not much in it, I will then have spare hubs so can change wheel bearings ready to just do a straight swap of hubs so not risk having the car of the road for too long.
My real questions are....
for generally limited mileage, but when towing it will be working hard over long distances along with my heavy right foot! is it better if I stay with 4 pin front and rear?
Also are the 4.0, 4.6 and diesel diffs all the same ratio?
Thanks
Steve
