different splined diffs

hiya guys, long time no post..
a little help please if poss, i have just bought a 200tdi disco which is set up for off roading and thats what im using it for. the rear diff is cream crackered and im about to replace it but ive noticed that the rear is 10 spline (so is my replacement) but the front is 24 spline.
will i have any dramas road driving as well off roading with different splined diffs?????? any advise/comments/help is much appreciated.. cheers

hello, i too im looking for a rear diff for my 300tdi, im told they are 24 spline and i could use a front one as they are the same? is this true? any help would be great, thanks Rob

sorry to but in... but:

what difference does 10 or 24 spline make anyhow. and should it be the same on both axels to get best results or which way round ideally if different?

maybe these questions will help you also jono. sorry again for the intrusion.

none, 24 spline shafts are just used on later models as are stronger than 10 ,but crown wheel and pinion are the same

So there's nothing in the diffs splines etc that will make any difference to speed!!

you can use them in either axle but wear on one side weakens it when its running in the opposite direction, as it would be from front to rear axle, or vica versa
