Nice stuff haha. Every time I see a trial in mud or something I shudder... Can't stand driving in mud, I miss dusty sand . I'd rather be bogged down than steer left but slip right haha

Aye.

I wanted to give that TYRO a go at the Belvoir Castle ALRC, but can't afford to break my disco haha, going down to Le Mans the week after and it'd be a shame to cancel because of some offroad mishap

Tyro with the ALRC is non damaging its very gentle you will experience more terrain while greenlaning for sure! you will have no problem with damage at all.

RTV is also non damaging but the chance if you get it wrong is there to do some damage. Tyro is made for 14 year olds and newbies in absolute road going vehicles to have a taster its designed for Shiney Range Rovers to drive there take art and get a taste.

You will be 100% ok taking part

Other clubs organisations Tyro can be (but shouldn't be) very challenging and can cause damage. The alrc have this tyro sussed!!!

In my personal opinion (speaking more for the disco rrc owners) we fit lift kits because the commonly used tyre size of 31inch or 235/85 r16 simply wont fit inside the wheel arches. Even with a lift some arch modifications are normally needed.

Off road sites are normally heavily rutted as are some poorly maintained lanes meaning you have to follow the tracks of others. Ultimately the ruts tend to get as deep as the tyres are tall that have driven them meaning you can spend a lot of time sitting on your axles. Lockers wont help here as has been mentioned but the ability to run larger tyres will.

Cross axle situations are when lockers come into their own but with good navigation you can normally steer around them or apply enough power before entering to roll through.

So you landy running on 235/70's but with lockers will be sitting in a lot of ruts wheels spinning due to lack of clearance and your larger tyred car with lift to allow will drive through and then have to use skill to navigate the cross axle situations. Yes you can argue the case that smaller wheel cars can bridge ruts but in my experience you inevitably end up slidding in!

Only an opinion so please dont go mad slatting me. Thats been my experience having both available to me

Three modifications transformed my Series, first fitting 36" tyres, second a Detroit Locker, third Parabolics, in that order. Locker is unbelievable off road, I can now drive what would have stopped me before.
